Man found unresponsive with suspected drugs after crash
A man who was discovered unresponsive on a golf course and with head injuries after crashing his motorcycle on Saturday evening has been bailed to appear in court.
Police said they found a substance believed to be cannabis as well as drug paraphernalia on his person.
The incident occurred near the junction of Harrington Sound Road and Paynters Road in Hamilton Parish.
A spokesman for the Bermuda Police Service said that a member of the public contacted police at about 11pm after seeing an unresponsive male lying on the golf course by the junction.
He added: “Upon arrival, officers found the victim, a 51-year-old-male, alert and receiving treatment from EMTs for head and facial injuries.
“He was said to have been travelling west on Harrington Sound Road when he lost control of the motorcycle, went off the roadway and came to a stop on the adjacent golf course.
“When speaking to the victim, officers detected the smell of alcohol and observed his speech was slurred and eyes bloodshot.
“Officers informed him of these observations and placed him under arrest for driving while intoxicated.
“Officers also recovered a quantity of suspected cannabis as well as drug paraphernalia among his belongings at the collision scene.
“The male was subsequently transported by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, where he was further attended to for his injuries and discharged.”
The spokesman said a court appearance was expected.
