Teenager bringing seniors Christmas cheer
A teenager is hosting a Christmas party for seniors for the second time.
Naché Anderson-Clarke, 15, took over organising the event from her grandmother, Carol Clarke, who hosted the party from 1998 until 2023.
Naché said: “The best part about organising the party last year had to be knowing that my grandmother trusted me with taking over the event.
“It was new to me, hence last year’s theme being ‘A new thing’ and coming from Isaiah 43:19.”
About 250 people are expected at the party at Cedar Bridge Academy tomorrow, which will centre on the theme “Know Your Legacy”.
Shuttle buses will take seniors to and from the Hamilton terminal to the school for the event starting at 10.15am.
Singer Gary Bean, poet Vernette Dorian and several others will entertain seniors at the party from 11am to 2pm.
Ms Clarke, who stepped away from organising after she turned 65, received the Queen’s Certificate and Badge of Honour in 2011 and was recognised by Bethel AME Church last year for her service to Bermuda’s seniors.
She said: “I look forward to seeing my granddaughter shape into an avid event planner extraordinaire.”
Bermuda Overseas Missions is co-organising the party. Sponsors and donors include Orbis, Renaissance Re, People’s Pharmacy and Robertson’s Drug Store.
Naché said: “We appreciate all our sponsors and support — if not for them, this event wouldn’t be a success.”
