Young people can ‘chart course to success’ with Sea Cadets
An information session will take place on Friday night for prospective candidates to join the Bermuda Sea Cadet Corps.
The recruitment night for prospective cadets and their families will be held at the BSCC Unit building on Convict Bay Lane, St George’s from 6.45pm.
Recruitment is open to girls and boys between the ages of 10 and 17 with a requirement for prospective candidates to be aged 10 by June 30 this year.
The event is designed to introduce young people and their guardians to the Sea Cadet programme, which offers unique opportunities for personal development, leadership and maritime skills, all in the context of Royal Navy traditions.
At the event, families will receive a detailed overview of the programme and its key policies, along with guidance on uniform requirements and expectations.
The session will also cover volunteer standards and safeguarding principles to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all participants.
Prospective cadets will have the chance to join in with training activities and meet cadets, while a question-and-answer segment is to provide attendees with an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about corps.
Those interested were urged to attend the event in school uniform or neat civilian attire.
Lieutenant Commander Michael Frith, RNR [Royal Navy Reserve], the Commander of the BSCC, said: “Joining the Sea Cadets is more than just learning skills; it’s about having fun and building confidence, teamwork and leadership in a safe and supportive environment.
“We look forward to welcoming new cadets and helping them chart a course for success!”
