The Royal Bermuda Regiment Coastguard is inviting the public to get an inside look at its work protecting the island’s waters this weekend.

On Saturday, the coastguard facility on Boaz Island will play host to a free open house between 10am and 1pm, offering visitors a tour of the facility, including its patrol vessels.

It will also feature demonstrations of the RBR Coastguard’s drone capabilities and family-friendly activities and experiences.

Major Jeffrey Patterson, Commander of the RBR Coastguard, said: “This open house is an opportunity for the public to meet the people behind the mission and to see, first-hand, the capabilities we use every day to protect Bermuda’s waters.

“From the air to below the surface, our teams work year-round to ensure maritime safety, and we’re proud to share that work with the community.”

An RBR spokeswoman added that the event was intended to help strengthen public understanding of the coastguard’s role in search and rescue operations, maritime safety and environmental protection.
