A Westgate inmate has been charged with assaulting a corrections officer.

Gavaska Lodge-Bascome, 31, denied causing Jeffrey Shaw bodily harm and threatening him when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Mr Lodge-Bascome, in custody for an unrelated matter, allegedly committed the offences on May 25, 2025 and chose to keep the case in Magistrates’ Court.

Magistrate Craig Attridge adjourned the case to Monday and remanded Mr Lodge-Bascome in custody until that time.
