Let’s get the roads paved

Department of Works and Engineering crews complete roadworks (Photograph supplied)

Dear Sir,

We keep talking about the condition of the roads. Hire a professional who knows something about paving them. Train the people who are operating the paving equipment to make sure the asphalt is mixed properly and the foundation is properly prepared.

Pave the main arteries, Middle Road, South Shore and Harbour Road, every three years and more if necessary — not patchwork.

Hire a team to monitor the traffic volume on each road.

This is not rocket science. Thirty years ago this never happened. Once again, incompetence.

You have to paint your roof every three years, paint your walls, mow your grass on your property. It is just basic maintenance.

PLP, stay off the planes, no new cars, no raises. Let’s renovate derelict buildings, pave roads, maintain lighthouses. Get to work.

If I can see this neglect in Bermuda, surely you can. Otherwise, see an eye doctor.
