Motorists alerted about water valve works and triathlon

Roadworks

Motorists will be affected by roadworks and a triathlon in the Smith’s and Southside areas this month.

On April 14 and 15, from 7.30am to 5pm, there will be a single-lane closure on Harrington Sound Road for water valve works.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Public Works and Environment reminded people to drive through this area with caution.

He said that detours will be available through Middle Road, Harrington Hundreds Road and North Shore Road.

The spokesman also said that on April 26, the National Championship Standard Distance Triathlon will be held in the East End. It has been organised by the Bermuda Triathlon Association and Bermuda Sports Lab.

Traffic controls and a temporary speed limit of 55km/h will be in place along the race route from Clearwater Beach to Kindley Field between 8am and 9.45am.

The ministry spokesman asked motorists to plan their journeys accordingly, drive with caution and follow directions from traffic officials.

Anyone with questions about the race can call Geoffrey Smith, the director of the Ministry of Public Works and Environment, on 747-2302.

For queries regarding the Harrington Sound Road works, call Karl Morgan-Evans, the principal engineer for water and sewage, on 501-6638.
