Special tea joins old and young at Francis Patton

Alumni and retired teachers of Francis Patton School in Hamilton Parish shared their favourite memories of the institute during a special tea yesterday.

About 50 people attended the commemoration — the second of four celebrations planned to mark the school’s 75th anniversary.

A school statement explained: “The afternoon was especially meaningful, as current Francis Patton students served attendees, many of whom were retired seniors, creating a beautiful multigenerational experience.”

Principal Tod Fox shared updates about the school, while videos highlighted the accomplishments of present-day pupils.

The statement added: “In true Francis Patton style, the event concluded with the singing of the school song and group photos.

“Many families with deep Francis Patton roots were represented, including sisters, multiple alumni relatives and families spanning three and four generations of students.”

Merchandise from District Apparel was also for sale, with part of the proceeds supporting the school.

The anniversary celebrations continue with a fun day on May 16 and a Dinner Under the Stars at Grotto Bay Beach Resort on June 6.
