Jutorre Burgess celebrates league title success with Bees
Jutorre Burgess and his Harborough Town team-mates were officially crowned Southern League Premier Central champions at the weekend.
Having already sealed the title heading into their penultimate fixture of the 2025-26 campaign, the Bees finally got their hands on the coveted league trophy after a 1-1 draw at home to Bishop’s Stortford last Saturday.
“I am extremely proud of the boys, proud of the gaffer and proud of the club,” Burgess told The Royal Gazette.
The former Bermuda under-20, Hamilton Parish and Brooke House College academy player has had a trying season, which came to a grinding halt after he tore his Achilles early in the campaign.
“Unfortunately I’ve been out since October, so the season hasn’t gone to plan on a personal note,” the Bermudian winger said.
“My focus now is getting fit and ready to fight for my place in the team for next season.”
Burgess made a huge impact with the Bees last year as he became the first player from the club’s under-23 squad to sign with the senior team and was also named Harborough Town’s Young Player of the Year.
He also played an integral role in helping the Bees make club history by reaching the second round of the Emirates FA Cup, the farthest they have ever reached in the oldest football competition in the world.
Harborough Town clinched the title and automatic promotion to the National League North this season with two games to spare courtesy of a 3-1 win away to Halesowen Town on April 11.
Bees manager Mitch Austin feels his players are deserving of success given the hard work they put in.
“They should be proud of themselves. I manage a great group, the players fight for each other,” he said.
“The club is ambitious, so it’s no fluke. Everyone is on the same page and everyone works hard.”
