School fundraiser to highlight international culture

The Bermuda Institute’s Home and School Association will host its annual Intercultural Fair this weekend, bringing together global cuisine and cultural performances.

The fundraising event, which supports the BIHSA, will highlight ten countries with students, parents, churches and community members collaborating to offer authentic vegetarian food, traditional performances and cultural displays.

Among the countries to be featured will be India, Italy, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Japan, France, Trinidad & Tobago, Jamaica, Ecuador and Bermuda.

LeVar Bassett, the association’s president, said: “Last year’s event was a colourful, engaging celebration of the diverse cultures here in Bermuda and it created an unforgettable experience for our entire community.

“We only hope to make it better this year. We were able to contribute to the needs of the school while hosting a much anticipated annual event, so we hope to improve this year and make an even larger impact.”

Admission to the fair, which will take place between noon and 4pm, will be free, with tickets available to pay for food and activities.

Parking will be available at the Southampton Seventh-day Adventist Church.
