Paradise Mobile will spotlight the work of 20 local artists this month as the island celebrates Heritage Month.

Almost 50 pieces of artwork will be on display at the mobile provider’s Reid Street offices selected based on the Department of Culture’s theme for Heritage Month, “For de Culture”.

A spokeswoman said: “These pieces will be available for purchase throughout the month, although they cannot be collected until the exhibition wraps, and tours will be available on request from the store team.

“All proceeds of sales will go to the artists.”

Throughout the month, visitors to the store can vote on their favourite artist, either in-store or online at paradisemobile.bm/localart, with the artist who receives the most votes winning the Paradise People’s Choice Award and a prize.

Artists involved in the exhibit include Amanda Duncan, Blair Masters, Chyna Talbot, James Cooke, Jordan Carey, Kimberley Fisher, Meredith Andrews, Omar Dill, Stratton Hatfield and Yusef Bushara.

Brett Corday, chief revenue officer at Paradise Mobile, said: “We are really pleased to see the Heritage Month Art Showcase back, and we’re proud to transform our 24 Reid Street store into a gallery for Bermuda’s creative community once more.

“We’re grateful for this opportunity to support local talent and we encourage everyone to pop by the store to see the artwork, and make sure to vote for your favourite to win the coveted ‘Paradise People’s Choice Award’.”

Claire Peverelli, the organiser of the showcase, said that the exhibition is a celebration of artistry on the island.

She said: “We’re grateful that Paradise Mobile has given us the space to display such an incredible range of works from paintings, ceramics, photography, music and embroidery to woodwork, sculpture, model boats and poetry, all sharing a unique part of Bermudian culture.

“We are really looking forward to opening night on May 8 and we welcome the public to come show their support to their community of local artists.”

The exhibition will be open throughout May during Paradise Mobile’s regular hours between 10am and 6pm on weekdays and 11am to 4pm on Saturdays.
