Bermudian cyclist Nic Narraway continued his strong US racing campaign at the 2026 Gran Premio New York City on Sunday.

Narraway finished 22nd in the same time as the winner after spending a significant portion of the race helping drive key breakaway moves during the international UCI 1.2 event held between New York City and Fort Lee, New Jersey.

The Gran Premio NYC is contested on the same course as the internationally recognised GFNY World Championship NYC and attracted a strong international field of professional and elite riders from across North and South America and Europe.

The race began on the iconic George Washington Bridge before heading north through New Jersey and New York State over a demanding 135km course featuring approximately 1,910 metres of climbing.

Narraway competed in a field of 95 starters, with the aggressive pace and repeated attacks significantly reducing the race. Only 78 riders finished within the time limit, while 15 riders finished outside the time cut and two riders did not finish.

Racing as part of Competitive Edge Racing, Narraway played an active role throughout the race as the team worked aggressively to stay represented in strategic moves and shape the outcome of the event.

Approximately 35 minutes into the race, Narraway was part of a five-man breakaway that later briefly became six riders before returning to five. That move remained clear of the peloton for approximately 28 minutes before being reeled back in.

Shortly afterwards, Narraway again attacked and formed part of a three-rider breakaway that stayed away for more than an hour before the peloton finally brought the group back. In total, Narraway spent close to an hour and 40 minutes, helping to keep pressure on the peloton and creating opportunities for his team-mates.

Commentators during the live broadcast specifically noted Narraway’s strength on the climbs and his repeated willingness to go on the attack against many of North America’s top professional and continental riders.

Competitive Edge Racing was highly visible throughout the event, repeatedly controlling the pace at the front of the peloton and positioning riders for attacks and breakaways. Team-mate Aidan Vollmuth also featured prominently, spending time in a two-man breakaway as the team animated the race from start to finish.

All six Competitive Edge Racing riders finished the demanding event, with four riders finishing in the same time as the winner, highlighting the team’s depth and collective strength throughout the race.

The event was contested at a relentless pace from start to finish, with the winning rider averaging more than 43km/h over the hilly course.

Narraway continues to balance elite-level international racing alongside full-time university studies and is scheduled to continue racing in the United States in the coming weeks.
