Dedicated civil servant receives Public Service Excellence Award
A civil servant has taken the Public Service Excellence Award for consistently stepping forward wherever support is needed.
Christopher Williamson, a sites management officer at the Government’s Marsh Folly facility, received the award for April for delivering an interactive field trip experience to Somerset Primary School’s P6 class.
He was also recognised for supporting the Department of Parks ahead of Good Friday events during a period of limited staffing.
For both the school visit and for Good Friday, Mr Williamson mustered support to keep events running smoothly and public spaces maintained.
David Burt, the Premier, said: “Mr Williamson’s contributions display the kind of dedication and initiative that strengthen both the public service and the wider community.
“From helping Somerset Primary students learn about Bermuda’s marine environment during their visit to Marsh Folly, to supporting the Department of Parks during a period of limited staffing ahead of the Good Friday holiday and beyond, Mr Williamson has consistently shown a willingness to step forward wherever support is needed.
“His commitment represents the highest standards of public service and the spirit of service recognised through the Public Service Excellence Awards.”
Jaché Adams, the Minister of Public Works and Environment, said: “Infrastructure services are enhanced when officers use their skills and experience to support the wider community.
“By engaging students at Marsh Folly, Mr Williamson has helped make complex environmental processes more accessible and relevant, while also highlighting the practical work carried out every day to manage and maintain our public spaces.”
Cherie Witter, the Head of the Public Service, said: “Mr Williamson’s recognition reflects a pattern of consistent performance and contribution across multiple areas of service.
“His ability to support colleagues, respond to operational challenges, and deliver quality outcomes demonstrates the standard of excellence we expect across the public service.
“This is not a single achievement, but a clear demonstration of his dedication to teamwork, reliability and effective service delivery.”
