Motorcycle strikes overturned car in serious Paget collision
A woman was arrested after an early morning collision between a car and a motorcycle in Paget.
A police spokesman said that at about 3.35am today, emergency services were dispatched to a two-vehicle collision on Middle Road near the junction with Berwyn Hill.
The spokesman said: “It appears the motor car was travelling in a westerly direction along Middle Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with a wall. The motor car overturned and landed on its roof.
“The motorcycle which was travelling in the same direction, then collided with and became embedded in the side of the overturned car.
“Upon arrival, officers found the driver of the car and the bike rider, both females, lying on the roadway, being assisted by members of the public.”
Both women were attended to at the scene by EMS personnel and transported by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for further treatment.
The spokesman said that the rider of the motorcycle appeared to have sustained serious injuries, including injuries to her head, while the driver of the car suffered more minor injuries.
However, the driver of the car also reportedly became “combative” at the scene and was later arrested on suspicion of driving while impaired.
The roadway remained closed for approximately four hours while the collision scene was processed.
