Man admits series of fraud, theft offences
A Warwick man will be sentenced in Magistrates’ Court for fraud, theft and other offences in July.
Ezzyia Bean, 23, admitted a total of 18 charges when he appeared in court yesterday.
Bean pleaded guilty to having a total of 14 false debit or credit cards, and various charges of attempting to use false MarketPlace or Rubis gift cards “with the intention of inducing HSBC to accept it as a genuine debit card” on September 1, 21 and 29 of last year.
Bean also admitted obtaining a $1,520 from HSBC by deception on September 21 and stealing an additional $1,000 from the bank on September 29.
Bean was further charged with Jah’zion Trott-Saltus, 20, in connection with having criminal property, namely $1,000 in Bermuda currency, in Sandys.
Bean admitted to the offence, which he committed on September 29, but Mr Trott-Saltus, from Pembroke, pleaded not guilty.
In addition, Bean pleaded guilty to having a knife with a 4½ in blade without lawful excuse.
The court heard that he had the weapon in his possession on Camber Road in Dockyard on July 29, 2022.
Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson ordered social inquiry and drug reports be written for Bean, and extended his bail until July 10, when he could be sentenced for the offences.
Ms Anderson also released Mr Trott-Saltus on $2,000 bail until June 12, ordering him to attend Hamilton Police Station twice a week.
