Beach days in Bermuda have become a full-day experience. From raft-ups and sunset swims to beach barbecues and long afternoons by the water, people are packing differently this summer, focusing on comfort, convenience, entertaining and staying outside longer.

We spoke with Deanne Hart, of Phoenix Group, about the beach essentials, trends and products shaping Bermuda summer right now.

What are the beach essentials people in Bermuda are actually packing this summer?

Beach towels and mats, insulated coolers, reusable drinkware, portable speakers, umbrellas, folding chairs, oversized tote bags and waterproof accessories continue to be the core essentials. Inflatables and outdoor games are also especially popular this year for families, boat days and group outings.

What items have become must-haves for a full beach day set-up?

Beach days have evolved into all-day experiences, so people are shopping accordingly. Portable shade, coolers, insulated drinkware, comfortable seating and easy-to-carry entertaining accessories have become must-haves. We’re also seeing more interest in portable grills, serving pieces and BBQ accessories as more people lean into beach cookouts and raft-ups.

Are there any noticeable beach trends this summer?

Comfort and convenience are definitely leading the way. People want set-ups that feel relaxed but still elevated. There’s also strong demand for lightweight, reusable and multifunctional products that make outdoor living feel effortless.

What are some underrated beach items people don’t think to pack but should?

Waterproof phone pouches, portable speakers, power banks, reusable ice packs, wet bags for swimsuits, and portable fans make a huge difference during long beach days. Compact serving accessories and reusable containers are also becoming more popular for outdoor entertaining.

Convenience and shareability are key. Chips, crackers, sweets, trail mixes, chilled drinks, and grab-and-go snacks continue to be cooler staples, especially for boat days and family outings. People want options that travel well and are easy to share.
