Knapton Hill road reopened after serious collision

A major road in Smith’s had to be closed off for about two hours after a serious collision ended in life-threatening injuries.

Details were limited as of 6.45pm, but a police spokesman confirmed the incident involved a micro rental car and a motorcycle that collided at the junction of Knapton Hill and South Road.

The motorcyclist was taken by ambulance to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment to injuries that were considered life-threatening.

Police advised at about 8.30pm that the scene was back open to traffic.
