King’s Birthday reception postponed over bad weather

Poor weather conditions, including gale-force gusts, have caused Andrew Murdoch, the Governor, to postpone the King’s Birthday reception planned for tomorrow.

The event would have been the first celebration of the Sovereign’s birthday hosted at 11 Langton Hill, the Governor’s official residence, in two years.

However the conditions would prevent tents from being erected safely at the property.

A statement said: “The Governor is hoping to reschedule the event later this year and will be in touch with invitees with details in due course.

“Thank you for your understanding and apologies for any inconvenience.”

King Charles visited Bermuda from April 30 to May 2, for his first official trip to a British Overseas Territory as monarch.
