25 must-do things before summer ends

Go on a boat: a raft-up at Deep Bay, Pembroke

Summer in Bermuda has a way of disappearing faster than you think. One minute you're making plans for the season and the next you're wondering how it's already September. Before that happens, here are 25 things worth doing before summer slips away.

1, Eat a fish sandwich by the water

Extra points if it's accompanied by a cold drink and absolutely no plans for the rest of the afternoon.

2, Spend an entire day in your bathing suit

The best summer days rarely require a wardrobe change.

3, Watch the sunset from a boat

There are few views better than Bermuda from the water as the sun goes down.

4, Go swimming after 6pm

The water is warm, the crowds have disappeared and the light is perfect.

5, Have a beach picnic

Simple food somehow tastes better with sand between your toes.

6, Take the ferry somewhere

Not because you need to, but because you can.

7, Eat Bermuda corn

Ideally bought from a roadside stand and slathered in butter after being grilled.

8, Spend a day in St George's

Wander the streets, grab lunch and take your time.

9, Go to Harbour Nights

Even if it's only once with your kids in the zone.

10, Have a Rum Swizzle

Whether it's your first of the season or your fiftieth. Bonus points for homemade.

11, Watch a full moon rise over the ocean

One of Bermuda's most underrated summer experiences.

12, Spend a day at a beach you've never visited before

There's always another cove or empty beach to discover.

13, Go to Cup Match

Even if you're only there for a few hours, it's part of the rhythm of a Bermuda summer.

14, Grab an ice cream cone

Summer is not the season for restraint. Get the double scoop.

15, Take a cooler somewhere

A boat, a beach, a barbecue or a friend's house. Anywhere.

16, Stay out later than planned

The best Bermuda nights rarely stick to the schedule.

17, Eat dinner outside

Everything feels better al fresco, especially with a glass of wine.

18, Accept a last-minute boat invitation

Some of the best summer days start with a text that simply says: “We're heading out. You coming?”

19, Spend an afternoon doing absolutely nothing

A surprisingly underrated skill.

20, Go somewhere without taking a photo

Not every memory needs proof.

21, Have a beach day with your family

The kind where someone brings too much food, someone forgets the sunscreen and no one leaves when they planned to.

Enjoy a seasonal cocktail

22, Order the seasonal cocktail

Trust the bartender and enjoy!

23, Get caught in a summer rain shower

You probably won't melt.

24, Watch the island wake up

A sunrise walk, early swim or coffee run is worth the alarm clock.

25, Put your phone away for a few hours

The best part of summer isn't documenting it. It's being in it.
