A window into everyday life of bygone Bermuda
Family photos, artefacts and stories have been compiled for an exhibit launched at the National Museum of Bermuda.
Your Pictures, Your Objects, Your Stories, Our History was opened last Thursday by Alexa Lightbourne, the Minister of Home Affairs — combining the museum’s digital storytelling projects, Bermuda Family Scrapbook and The Objects That Make Us.
Deborah Atwood, the museum’s curator, said: “What makes this exhibition so powerful is that it places personal and family stories at the heart of Bermuda’s history.
“As a living, ongoing project, it creates opportunities for others to add their voices, ensuring that Bermuda’s story continues to grow and evolve.”
The exhibition highlights personal community stories through the photographs, objects and memories of everyday life.
Elena Strong, the NMB executive director, thanked contributors for “the trust you have placed in the museum in sharing your stories, and allowing us to share them more widely”.
