National Museum of Bermuda calls for intern
The National Museum of Bermuda is seeking an intern to assist with education, curation and community engagements for 12 months.
The opportunity is available for university graduates keen on receiving practical experience while assisting with programmes and daily operations.
Deborah Atwood, the NMB curator, said interns could be an “integral part of the museum’s team” while ensuring “a bright future for Bermuda’s cultural heritage sector”.
Lisa Howie, the director of learning and engagement, added: “Our internship programme is designed to provide meaningful, practical experience across multiple museum functions.
“Through close mentorship with experienced museum professionals, interns develop skills in research, collections management, programme development and project co-ordination, building a strong foundation for future careers in museums, education and the wider cultural sector.”
The intern will assist with collections and museum operations, as well as with planning and delivering tours, workshops, school programmes and community events and creating educational resources.
Alongside curatorial staff, they will catalogue, document and care for collections, as well as conduct research, source images and contribute content for NMB publications.
The position will involve administrative and project support across departments, event and programme co-ordination and project tracking, as well as attending meetings and training sessions.
The position is open to recent graduates who show strong organisational and communication skills, as well as a keen interest in museums, heritage and education, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Applicants must be Bermudian, the spouse of a Bermudian or hold a permanent resident’s certificate.
Applications are through the NMB website, with a deadline of May 31.
