Ministry confirms Cup Match parking restrictions
Motorists should expect parking restrictions, temporary road closures and traffic flow changes in the vicinity of Somerset Cricket Club during Cup Match, the Ministry of Public Works advised this morning.
Traffic and parking restrictions will be in effect from 6am on Thursday, until midnight, and from 6am to 9pm on Friday.
A ministry spokeswoman said: “Motorists should expect parking restrictions, temporary road closures and traffic flow changes in the vicinity of the Somerset Cricket Club and surrounding roads.
“Designated public service vehicle locations will remain available throughout the event.
“These traffic measures are being implemented to support the safe movement of vehicles and pedestrians during the Annual Cup Match Classic.
“Motorists are encouraged to plan their journeys accordingly, follow all posted signs and directions from traffic controllers, and allow extra travel time when travelling through the area.”
Arrangements include, no parking along portions of Somerset Road, Boaz Island Road, Cricket Lane, Hook 'N Ladder Lane, Long Bay Lane, Railway Trail, Scott's Hill Road and other listed roads.
Clyde Best Lane, from the Railway Trail towards Scott's Hill Road, will be limited to one-way traffic, while the rest will be closed to through traffic, except residents and emergency vehicles.
Additionally, the ministry has advised that Gilbert Lane will be two-way.
Public service vehicles will be located on Scott's Hill Road, Boaz Island Road, Gilbert Lane, and opposite the former Esso service station on Somerset Road.
The public are also reminded of parking areas at Sandys Middle School, West End Primary School, Somerset Primary School and Warren Simmons Field.
