A visitor was reportedly injured today after a collision between a livery cycle she was riding and a car near Industrial Park Road in Southampton.

A police spokeswoman said: “Initial information suggests the livery cycle, operated by a female visitor, was travelling west along Middle Road when the rider attempted to avoid a truck at the Industrial Park Road junction.

“The cycle subsequently crossed into the path of an oncoming car, resulting in a collision.

“The female motorcyclist was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment of her injuries.”

The spokeswoman added that the extent of the visitor’s injuries were not known, but the male driver of the car was not believed to have been injured in the collision.

Motorists were urged to be cautious as they travel through the area this afternoon while traffic diversions were in place.
