Bermuda Under-14 in Dominican Republic for Caribbean competition
Bermuda will open their 2026 Under-14 Boys Caribbean Football Union Challenge Series qualifying campaign in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, on Monday.
The Bermuda Football Association announced an 18-member squad on Friday. Led by midfielder Adam Barritt, the Gombey Warriors were drawn in Group A alongside Barbados, Martinique and the host nation.
Coach Vashun Blanchette’s team get things rolling against Barbados on Monday (12:30pm Bermuda time). They return the next day to face Martinique at 1pm, before wrapping up group play on Wednesday against the hosts (4:30pm).
The BFA identified the Challenge Series as a key development tournament for the island’s young players, with many getting their first taste of international competition.
Most of Blanchette’s squad featured for the National Academy Under-15 team during the Bermuda Triangle Cup at Flora Duffy Stadium last month.
That group gained valuable experience against older opponents in Sao Miguel, from the Azores, Dandy Town and Bermuda’s Brazilian Football School.
Bermuda will be looking to make a strong start in Punta Cana and advance out of a competitive group as they chase a spot in the next round. In 2024, the island’s young stars suffered a heartbreaking 4-3 loss on penalties to Barbados after the match had ended goalless in normal time.
