Bermuda’s young cyclists made a strong start to the 2026 Caribbean Junior Road Cycling Championships in Belize on Saturday, capturing two silver medals in the individual time-trials.

Dylan Eiselt secured silver in the 15-kilometre juvenile men’s event, completing the course in 21min 23.72sec. He finished 42.48 behind Ahmaad Cherrington, of Belize, who won in 20:41.24.

Eiselt’s team-mate Jens Drea narrowly missed the podium, finishing fourth in 22:15.25. Matthew Briggs-Legall, of Barbados, claimed bronze in 21:56.91.

In the 20-kilometre junior men’s time trial, Jacob Wright earned Bermuda’s second silver medal with a time of 26:44.95. Ryan Thompson, from Cayman Islands, won the regional title in 26:03.44, with Barbados rider Jonah Kelly taking bronze in 27:05.27.

Bermuda’s Keon Stevens completed the junior men’s event in ninth place with a time of 33:06.94.

The result marks a second consecutive Caribbean Championship time-trial medal for Wright, who earned bronze in the juvenile men’s category during his championship debut in Barbados last year. Eiselt’s silver came in his first appearance at the regional competition.

“We are extremely proud of all four riders,” Peter Dunne, president of the Bermuda Bicycle Association said.

“Dylan and Jacob delivered excellent rides to earn their silver medals, while Jens came very close to the podium in fourth.

“Keon showed determination to complete a demanding time trial. They represented Bermuda well and the entire team can take confidence from today into the road races.”

The championships continue today with the road races. Wright and Stevens will represent Bermuda in the 93.6-kilometre junior men’s race, while Eiselt, Drea and Jonah MacGuinness are due to contest the 62.4-kilometre juvenile men’s event.

Dunne is part of the support team for the young cyclists, together with Darren Glasford and Che’quan Richardson.
