Kempe and Patton to represent Bermuda at world championship
Bermuda will have two representatives at the Ilca 7 World Championships this week.
Sebastian Kempe and Campbell Patton will be flying the flag across five days of competitive racing in Ireland.
The action takes place at the Royal St George Yacht Club in Dun Laoghaire, a costal town on the south side of Dublin, with the first two races of a ten-race series scheduled to take place on Tuesday.
Kempe and Patton will be hoping to make their way into the gold fleet after the first couple of days but face a tough task with 141 sailors entering the regatta.
A minimum of three races are required to be completed to constitute a championship and a sailor will be allowed to discard one result if between three and nine races are completed and throw away two results if the 11 regatta races are completed in full.
Kempe enters the event just a couple of weeks after picking up a bronze medal at the Central American and Caribbean Games.
