Students are cashing in with Devonshire Parish Council’s annual scholarship programme.

A total of eight students have been named as winners after applying for the 2026-27 academic year.

The DPC scholarship scheme aims to empower and support outstanding individuals in their pursuit of higher education and foster a brighter future for the community.

Zoe Smith, the chairwoman of the parish council, said: “Each recipient demonstrated ambition, determination and a genuine desire to make something meaningful of the opportunities ahead of them.”

The council told how, after careful consideration of numerous exceptional applicants, it was proud to award students who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and achievements in their academic pursuits with commitment to making a positive impact.

The winners are Sarine Babb, Postgraduate Certificate in Law; Shayla Robinson, Bachelor of Science in Finance and Economics; Riley Hall, Bachelor of Science in Education; Kyii Simons-Henry, Bachelor of Science in Biology; TeAra Douglas, Master of Science in Mathematics Education; Eva Trott, Bachelor of Science in Interior Design; Jhazii Johnson, Master of Science in Information Technology; and Simeon Hayward, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology.

In addition to receiving financial support, scholarship recipients will be encouraged to remain connected with the Devonshire community through council-led initiatives, community events and networking opportunities.

Ms Smith added: “This year is particularly significant for the DPC as we are proud to recognise our largest group of scholarship recipients to date, with eight deserving students receiving awards.

“This milestone reflects our continued commitment to expanding educational opportunities and investing in the young people of our parish.”
