Summer may be winding down, but September’s calendar certainly isn’t. From after-work parties and J’Ouvert to outdoor cinema, Oktoberfest and live music on the beach, there’s plenty happening across Bermuda this month.

MARINA NIGHT FEATURING LOST SOCIETY

September 4 | Hamilton Princess | From 5pm | $25

Kick off the month at Hamilton Princess with a special Marina Night featuring Lost Society and Jamaican-born DJ, producer and songwriter Merchant, whose sound blends Jamaican rhythms with Afro House. Bermuda’s Korie Minors and BONSAI will also be part of the evening’s entertainment.

The party continues later at Bermudiana Bar & Lounge with Lost Society Afters from 9.30pm to 2am. Tickets for Marina Night are $25, with the first 50 guests receiving a welcome cocktail. Afters tickets are $40.

SAFARI — AFROBEATS AT BAMZ

September 5 | Bermuda Aquarium, Museum & Zoo | 6.30pm–11pm | From $35

Soweto Underground takes over the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum & Zoo for Safari, an immersive night of Afrobeats and Amapiano held as part of BAMZ’s 100th anniversary celebrations. Expect two music zones, DJs, live performances, cultural vendors, food and multiple bars.

The line-up includes Soweto Underground, Playbwoy Sound, Dat Bie Dez, The Godbrothers and Kinya From Kenya. Guests are encouraged to embrace the safari theme, and the event is for ages 18 and over.

JAB J’OUVERT

September 6 | Southlands Park | 3am–8am | $150

COA Entertainment brings J’Ouvert energy to Southlands Park with an early-morning Grenada-style Jab fete featuring drinks, powder, water, paint and party favours. The event runs from 3am to 8am.

SEASHORE AND WATERCOLOUR COURSE

September 10–October 15 | Smith’s Parish | Thursdays, 9am–11am | $570

Spend six Thursday mornings learning to capture Bermuda’s turquoise waters, dramatic coastline and foliage in watercolour. The intimate course covers landscape and seascape painting, colour mixing and texture and is open to all experience levels.

Classes take place on September 10, 17 and 24 and October 1, 8 and 15 at a private Smith’s Parish residence near St Mark’s Church. The fee includes premium art materials.

CINEMA UNDER THE STARS: BABY BOOM

September 13 | The Loren Hotel Pool Deck | 7.30pm | $35

Settle in poolside for an outdoor screening of Baby Boom at The Loren. Tickets include movie snacks and complimentary popcorn, with additional food and drinks available for purchase. Food and drink service begins at 7.30pm, followed by the movie at 8pm.

OKTOBERFEST AT MOONGATE BREWING CO.

September 18–20 | St George’s

Moongate Brewing Co. brings Oktoberfest to St George’s for three days of German-inspired food, live music, games and craft beer, including a special brew created specifically for the occasion.

Friday and Saturday offer a traditional beer hall-style experience with reserved tables and live music, while Sunday turns into a family day with children’s activities, a bouncy castle and live entertainment. Children under 12 receive free admission on Sunday.

R&B AND HIP-HOP PRE-2000s

September 19 | ÜberVida | 8pm–11pm | $32

Take the throwbacks out to sea aboard ÜberVida for an evening of R&B and hip-hop with music by Shock & Lust and D’NICE. Expect classic anthems and plenty of nostalgia as the yacht cruises Bermuda’s waters.

Boarding begins at 7.30pm at No 1 Dock on Front Street, with departure at 8pm. The event is for ages 18 and over.

THE LUMINA FESTIVAL: FINANCIAL LITERACY SUMMIT

September 25 | National Museum of Bermuda | 9am–5.30pm | From $99

Fittingly for this month’s Money Issue, The Lumina Festival returns with a full day dedicated to financial literacy and wealth building. Under the theme ‘Art of the Possible’, local experts, entrepreneurs and professionals will lead workshops and conversations covering budgeting, debt, investing, entrepreneurship, generational planning, real estate, creative business and digital finance.

The main summit runs until 5.30pm, followed by a happy hour for eligible ticket holders.

BERMESTIVAL: ACOUSTIC MUSIC FESTIVAL

September 26 | Chaplin Bay | 6pm–11pm | $70

Close out the month on the beach with Bermestival, an evening of acoustic music, sunset views and community at Chaplin Bay. Aqua Skanks, JC Blues, Oscar Trejo and Tino Martinez are on the line-up, with Moongate Brewing Co. running the bar.

All proceeds from the event benefit Skillcraft Bermuda.
