A two-motorcycle collision in Pembroke yesterday left both riders in hospital with various injuries.

The Bermuda Police Service said that officers attended the scene at the junction of Palmetto Road and Bishop Spencer Road at about 6.30pm.

A spokesman said: “It appears a 33-year-old female motorcycle rider was travelling west along Palmetto Road, when she attempted to negotiate a left hand turn onto Bishop Spencer Road.

“As she did so, a 42-year-old male motorcyclist, also travelling west on Palmetto Road, collided with her.

“The male motorcyclist suffered a serious but non-life threatening head injury. The female bike rider sustained a back injury, the extent of which was unknown.”

The spokesman added that the bike ridden by the male rider was found to be both unlicensed and uninsured.

Both riders were taken by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment and the road was closed to traffic for about three hours so the scene could be forensically processed.
