Winners of Mirrors’ 10th art competition celebrated
The creativity and achievements of Bermuda's young artists was celebrated at a prize giving ceremony for the tenth annual Annual Mirrors Art and Digital Competition.
Held under the theme “Our Island, Many Stories”, the milestone event recognised outstanding student artists, participating schools and community partners who have supported the competition over the past decade.
More than $150,000 in prizes has been awarded to students and schools over that time through a partnership with the Mirrors Alumni and Friends Association.
This year's competition attracted more than 200 submissions, compared with 65 last year. Participation from public schools also increased, while public voting rose from 125 to 692 votes.
Tinée Furbert, the Minister of Youth, Social Development and Seniors, said: “Reaching ten years is a significant milestone.
“This competition is about much more than winning prizes — it provides Bermuda's young people with a platform to express themselves, explore their creativity and recognise that their voices and perspectives matter.
“We congratulate every participant and encourage them to continue sharing their talents and telling their stories.”
For the first time, the exhibition was hosted at Washington Properties, which organisers said provided greater public access to the artwork and an opportunity to showcase Bermuda's emerging artistic talent.

Students whose original pieces are purchased will also receive a print of their work. One of the exhibited pieces has already sold for $500.
Ms Furbert and the Mirrors team also acknowledged the principals, teachers and art educators who supported student participation.
Special appreciation was extended to the Mirrors Alumni and Friends Association; Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art; Washington Properties; the Public Works Carpentry Section; and SAL, as well as the competition judges, Kimberley Fisher, Minaya Wainwright and Eva O'Connor, with oversight from Jasmine Lee, the curator of contemporary art at Masterworks.
