Rubis warns of fake fuel giveaway

The public have been warned not to click on a social-media post that falsely promotes a Rubis fuel giveaway.

Rubis Energy Bermuda, which owns service stations around the island, said that the advertisement was fake and not associated with the company.

It said the advert circulating on Facebook attempts to appear legitimate by connecting the promotion to the company’s twentieth anniversary.

However, it does not lead to an official Rubis website, and could be designed to steal personal or financial information.

Residents were urged to report the advertisement immediately to the Bermuda Police Service’s online community reporting portal, portal.police.bm.
