Actuarial consulting firm Valani Global has established a Bermuda presence as it looks to expand its work with the island’s insurance and reinsurance sector.

The company lists an office at 22 Queen Street, Hamilton, and has appointed consulting actuary Alexander Loscerbo as its business development lead for Bermuda.

When Mr Loscerbo took up the role this summer he announced on his LinkedIn page: “Bermuda continues to operate at the centre of the global insurance market. I look forward to bringing Valani Global’s deep actuarial expertise to current and new clients navigating the exciting opportunities that this market provides.”

Valani Global said Mr Loscerbo is a consulting actuary with deep technical roots in actuarial modelling, from building modelling solutions to validating models and valuing financial reinsurance.

“It’s exactly the depth Bermuda’s market rewards,” the firm said.

Before joining Valani Global, Mr Loscerbo worked as a manager with Canada Life. He was the local project lead in the technical implementation of Canada Life’s IFRS 17 solution for the group customer division.

Mr Loscerbo’s focus in the Bermuda market is developing relationships with existing and prospective clients.

Valani Global’s Bermuda-related services include support for the Bermuda scenario-based approach and Bermuda Solvency Capital Requirement, as well as bespoke pricing models and international solvency and valuation work.
