A blockbuster clash is set for Bernard Park tonight when North Village take on Dandy Town in the Premier Division.

Town and Village have made flying starts to the season, with both sides winning their opening three matches. Village briefly climbed to the top of the table after beating Devonshire Cougars last week, but Town reclaimed the summit on goal difference with victory over St George’s Colts.

Village coach Calvin Dill Jr declared that his players, who enjoyed some rest while their opponents were in action on Wednesday, were motivated to put on a show under the lights.

“It should be a thriller and the boys are ready to entertain the crowd,” Dill told The Royal Gazette.

“Whoever wins stays on top of the table and whoever loses stays three points behind. This is just what we train hard for, playing against the top teams in the league and we’re always looking forward to the match-up with Dandy Town.”

It will be the third meeting of the season between the sides. Village took the first encounter when they won the Charity Cup, but Town got the better of their rivals in the Dudley Eve Trophy group encounter at the beginning of the month.

Dill remains without Sincere Hall, who has not featured since picking up an injury on Nations League duty with Bermuda. Striker Jonté Smith is also unavailable after being granted time off.

“We have a few injuries,” the Village coach said.

“Three of our main players are out. Sincere Hall has been out since he came back from the national team and he’s still not available.

“Kashe Hall is off island for family reasons. We gave Jonté Smith time off at the end of the cricket season, we thought it’s a good time for him to get his body back and he’ll be available after the international break.”

In matches scheduled for tomorrow, X-Roads, motivated after booking their spot in the Dudley Eve Trophy final, go out in search of their first league win of the season when they face Devonshire Colts.

St George’s, with two draws and a defeat, welcome a PHC side seeking to bounce back after being knocked out of the Dudley Eve. The Zebras should have captain Enrique Russell back from suspension.

Young Men’s Social Club have a chance of securing their first win of the season when they clash with equally struggling Somerset Trojans.

Devonshire Cougars tasted defeat for the first time last week when their unbeaten run was ended by Village. They will look to get their campaign back on track against an unpredictable Paget Lions side.
