Census interviewers to make household visits
Residents have been urged by the Department of Statistics to co-operate with census interviewers during upcoming visits to private households to complete outstanding questionnaires.
Interviewers will carry department-issued photo identification cards and an official letter of authenticity during their visit to homes where the census process has not yet been completed.
The department said interviews will generally be conducted in the evenings and on weekends, when residents are most likely to be at home.
It said public participation is essential to ensuring that the census provides an accurate and comprehensive picture of Bermuda's population and housing make-up.
The department noted that the data supports government planning and decision-making in areas including infrastructure, education, health, employment, and other economic and social needs.
As such, effectively planning for the island’s future requires the information from all households to be provided and counted.
The Department of Statistics is seeking reliable, personable people who are comfortable speaking with the public to apply to become census interviewers.
Interviewers can earn up to $70 per completed household interview, depending on household size.
Applicants must be available to attend mandatory training before beginning census fieldwork.
Persons interested can apply at interview.census.bm
The department reminded residents that completing their census questionnaire is required by law and all information collected through the 2026 Census is protected under the Statistics Act 2002 and held in the strictest confidence.
