Hundreds turn out for AXA XL Man on the Run
More than 300 runners turned out for the AXA XL Man On The Run 5k on Sunday morning.
Hundreds turned up at Warwick Academy for an event that helps to raise funds for local men's health initiatives through Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre.
It may have been an unfamiliar name to the Bermuda running scene that took top honours but those familiar with Caribbean athletes may well be aware of the prowess of Kemar Leslie.
Leslie crossed the line in 16min 44.22sec to take top honours, defeating one of Bermuda’s brightest prospects Sanchez Smith by 18 seconds. Shannon Lawrence finished third in 17:55.42 with Adam Prunty and Luke Hyland rounding out the top five.
In the 2.2 kilometre race for boys under 10, the first prize was taken by Nolan Horrobin, who completed the course in 9:16.68. That was enough for a 26-second margin of victory over Elliot Davidge (9:43.34), with Rian Wookey finishing third (9:50.13)
Michael Cenzer came home first in the 5km competitive walk in 37:04.28. Junior Watts (37:39.41) was runner-up with Simon Argent rounding off the podium in 38:36.77
