Impaired motorist tried to drive through murder scene

A Pembroke man who drunkenly tried to drive into a cordoned-off murder scene has been jailed.Antwone Simons was stopped by officers investigating the stabbing death of Steven Jireh Iris on The Glebe Road in Devonshire last Friday.The 48-year-old pleaded guilty in Magistrates’ Court to driving while exceeding the legal alcohol limit. He chose to serve three months in prison instead of paying a $2,250 fine.Prosecutor Cindy Clarke said officers stopped Simons as he attempted to drive into the crime scene and noticed he had a beer in his lap. He admitted having consumed two beers that morning.A breath test revealed Simons had 197mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood, more than twice the legal limit of 80 mg.Simons also admitted speeding at 60 kmph and attempting to lie to the police officer about his name on July 19 and speeding at 63 kmph on May 19.
