Police are in talks with the Director of Public Prosecutions over allegations against One Bermuda Alliance MP Trevor Moniz.

David Burt, the Premier, earlier this month called for an investigation into Moniz, accusing him of an abuse of power over his handling of the Bermuda Government lawsuit against the Lahey Clinic. Mr Burt also claimed Mr Moniz broke the law by obtaining information from government departments without a court order.

Mr Moniz has denied the allegations and accused the Premier of misleading the House of Assembly.

Responding today, Assistant Commissioner of Police Antoine Daniels said: “The Bermuda Police Service is aware of the statements that have been made about this case.

“We are in the process of recording the full facts and consulting with the Director of Public Prosecutions to determine whether the circumstances may amount to any specific criminal offences.”
