Dear Sir,

I read the recent letter by E. McNeil Stovell in which I am the subject of his criticism concerning the issue of “gay marriage” — his words, not mine.

I have no intention of an in-depth reply to his expressed views because, while I respect his right of opinion, I do not agree with it. Simply he, like many in Bermuda and indeed around the world, needs to evolve with his thinking.

Finally, I am flattered considering his biased view on political issues and his often expressed dislike for my service that he mentions me frequently in his letter. Thank you for your “backhanded” support, Mr Stovell; the inspiration provided always puts a spring in my step as I serve.
