Seven men accused of gun attacks appeared at Supreme Court yesterday but one of them refused to speak to enter a plea.Ronniko Burchall and Leroy Symons are accused of shooting Shane Minors dead on September 17 last year.Mr Minors, 30, was found dead outside his home on Friswell’s Hill, Pembroke.When Mr Burchall, from Pembroke, appeared at the monthly arraignment session, he refused to speak when asked to enter his plea.He remained mute when a further charge, of using a firearm to commit the killing, was put to him.Mr Symons, 20, from Warwick, pleaded not guilty to murder. Mr Burchall’s lawyer Craig Attridge plans to make legal submissions at a later date, in a bid to get the charges quashed.Chief Justice Richard Ground said he would decide what to do about Mr Burchall refusing to enter a plea after that. He remanded the pair into custody.In another murder case, 31-year-old David Cox stands accused of the premeditated murder of Court Street resident Raymond Rawlins.Mr Rawlins, 47, was gunned down in the entrance to the Spinning Wheel night club on Court Street in the early hours of August 9.Mr Cox, of Smith’s, denies that charge and further charges of using a firearm to commit murder and handling a firearm. He was remanded into custody and will stand trial on May 16.In another case related to the same victim, Alvone Maybury, 24, was charged with conspiring with Anthony Swan and others not before the court to shoot at Mr Rawlins on an earlier date December 16 2009.Mr Maybury is further accused of possessing a gun and ammunition, conspiring to possess a firearm with intent to endanger life and conspiring to discharge a firearm.He pleaded not guilty to all the charges and was remanded into custody until his trial on February 7.In a separate case, Kevin Warner, 20, denied the premeditated murder of 24-year-old Dekimo Martin who was shot outside his home in Peacock Crescent, Sandys, on May 28.Mr Warner, of Warwick, also denied carrying a firearm with intent to commit murder.He is charged alongside a 35-year-old woman, Charlita Campbell, of Pembroke, with obstructing the course of justice. Both are alleged to have provided the Police with a false alibi for Mr Warner.They deny that, and will go on trial on May 9. Mr Warner was remanded into custody and Ms Campbell was bailed.Further charges were put to Jah’Mico Trott, 27, and Dunn-Ya Taylor, 22, over the shooting of David Godwin on Marsh Folly Road, Pembroke, on September 23.The pair, both from Pembroke, denied attempted murder and unlawful shooting.Mr Taylor alone faces further charges of using a firearm to commit attempted murder and carrying a firearm in a public place, Marsh Folly Road.He pleaded not guilty and the pair will stand trial on March 8. They were remanded into custody.
