Invesdex plugs into MarketPlus
Bermuda based Invesdex Ltd yesterday launched MarketPlus, a next generation investment platform that facilitates active asset allocation.
A powerful alternative to index mutual funds and exchange traded funds (ETF's) Market Plus is designed for financial advisors, money managers, and qualified self-directed investors.
MarketPlus is structured as an investment contract and features an easy to use web-based interface similar to an online brokerage account.
"We are very pleased to introduce MarketPlus as an exciting alternative for active investors seeking a highly flexible and globally diversifiable investment vehicle," said Valere Costello, president and CEO of Invesdex.
"MarketPlus provides a highly functional way to gain exposure to futures liked financial and commodity assets, without the risk of unlimited liability and complications of contract rollovers."
MarketPlus will offer a diverse selection of assets including the major world equity indicies such as the S&P500, Nasdaq 100, FT-SE 100, Hang Seng, and industrial sectors, as well as other fixed income and commodity asset categories including US Treasuries, gold, and crude oil.
As often as every half hour, investors can "custom link" their MarketPlus contract to the performance of any combination of these assets and choose direct (long) or inverse exposures, as well as up to three-to-one gearing. MarketPlus is also a non-recourse instrument, so you cannot loose more than your investment.
Robert Champion, chairman and co-founder of Invesdex, who was in Bermuda for yesterday's launch at the Zurich Centre, said current market conditions underscore the need for this kind of instrument.
Invesdex shareholders include two well respected international partners in the Bank of N.T. Butterfield & Son Ltd. and eVentureCentre, a joint venture between Centre Solutions, a member of the Zurich Financial Services Group and Paragon Bermuda Ltd.
MarketPlus contracts are offered by Invesdex Capital Ltd (ICL) and ICL's liabilities to MarketPlus investors are 100 percent collateralised by liquid assets held by Butterfield Trust, the Trust subsidiary of A-rated Bank of Butterfield.
President and CEO of the Bank, Calum Johnston said: "We are very pleased to be associated with Invesdex. MarketPlus will be an exciting alternative for our sophisticated clients who have been seeking a better way to manage their broad-based investment portfolios."
Paul Hellmers, president and CEO of Centre Solutions (Bermuda) Ltd. said: "Market Plus is a unique investment vehicle that combines technological innovation and functionality. We chose to partner with Invesdex because we belive Market Plus delivers an easy to use, cost effective product that addresses the needs of investors looking for a mechanism to flexibly access and manage investments in a number of broad market indicies."
Bermuda's effective regulatory environment was a major factor in the company's decision to some to Bermuda, as well as the Island's location, time zone, and infrastructure.
