Flatts bats destroy Somerset

Somerset 185 Gershon Gibbons, Aaron Woolridge and Derek Wright all scored half-centuries as Flatts piled on the runs on their way to a 144-run victory over Somerset at Somerset on Sunday.

Gibbons then added 95 for the third wicket with A.Franks who scored 48, and another 60 for the fourth wicket with Woolridge who chipped in with 68 as the Somerset bowlers continued to take heavy punishment.

There was no let up in the tailend as Wright, batting at number nine, scored 53 not out while Kevin Hurdle hit 26 and Quinn Outerbridge 22. That enabled Flatts to declare with eight wickets down.

Kenny Maybury was the most successful of the Somerset bowlers, claiming two for 41 off 12 overs while Sidney Simmons' two wickets came at a costly 98 runs in 16 overs. Steval Mendes was also expensive as he gave up 76 in 14 overs for one wicket.

Last man Maybury left the ground without batting as Somerset lost the match with seven overs remaining in the final 20 overs.
