Shooting suspect still on the loose after two months
Two months after he was suspected to have shot at Police officers following a dramatic chase across the back of town, Omari Gordon remains on the loose.
Police yesterday said they still believe somebody is helping Gordon hide and once again urged the public to come forward with information about his whereabouts.
Specially trained and armed Emergency Response Team officers, a $5,000 reward for assistance and pleas from his family, friends and lawyer have all failed to force the 26-year-old Pembroke man into the open.
A Bermuda Police Service spokesman said yesterday: "It's clear that somebody has knowledge of where he is. He couldn't have stayed hidden for so long without help."
The incident happened at 3 a.m. on Saturday, November 29, after Police approached a motorcyclist believed to be Gordon as he drove very slowly with his lights off on Reid Street.
He sped off, leading officers on a chase across the back of town that ended in Middletown. He then ditched his bike and ran up an embankment, firing a single shot at three officers as they ran after him.
It is thought Gordon — described by locals as a gang member but a follower rather than a ringleader — had been on a mission of revenge against a rival who stabbed him in a fight some months ago.
Police have previously received information both that Gordon is hiding on the Island, and that he has fled overseas.
The spokesman said yesterday said they were continuing to follow up all leads.
Anyone caught helping Gordon faces prosecution for perverting the course of justice or for being an accessory after the fact.
