The head girls from Bermuda’s high schools spoke at the International Women’s Day event at City Hall on Tuesday.

Sophia Marshall, head girl at Bermuda High School; Oreoluwa Bademosi, head girl at CedarBridge Academy; Kimika Jackson, head girl at the Berkeley Institute; Channa James, head girl at the Bermuda Institute; Tate Crofts, M5 prefect at Somersfield Academy; Treasure Tannock, head girl at Warwick Academy; Sofia Montarsolo, head girl at Saltus Grammar School; and Sophia Fortuna, president of the student council at Mount Saint Agnes Academy, addressed the crowds.

Also in attendance were residents and women and girls representing our political, cultural, public service, business, education and social advocacy communities.

Katarina Hoskins, a member of the organising committee and Austria’s Honourary Consul to Bermuda, said: “This is a special occasion that brings together an amazing group of diverse women to share our strengths and unite in our pledge for parity.

“We’re thrilled that we’re even able to include the voices of young women that will shape this movement’s future.”

Other young speakers included Nia Dailey, deputy head girl at the Berkeley Institute, and Bermuda High School’s Namrata Bisht, the premier of Bermuda’s Youth Parliament.
