Flower show veteran Nicky Gurret received a bronze medal for her “Edgy Bermuda” entry in the Chelsea Flower Show.

Ms Gurret, who has now won six medals in six appearances at the prestigious contest, took part in the Floral Arrangement class, “The Cutting Edge”, with her son Christian Chin-Gurret.

She said in a statement: “The design was very modern with mostly Bermuda home grown plants.

“I used cut Chinese fan palm leaves, screw pines and golden cane palm all of which I bought from my garden in Bermuda.”

She bought the remaining plant material — red anthuriums, orange protea and red hypericum berries — at the New Covent Garden Flower Market in London.

Ms Gurret’s next exhibit will be in the World Flower Show which takes place in Barbados later this year.
