Coins for a Cause campaign raises $11,000

The Bermuda Junior Service League has raised $11,000 to assist the Island’s deaf and hard of hearing.The charity recently presented Jennifer Fahnbulleh, executive director of Bermuda Islands Association of the Deaf, with money raised through its annual Coins for a Cause fundraising event. Businesses and schools used special buckets to solicit donations from customers and colleagues as part of the drive. Past recipients have included Habitat for Humanity and the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) Room at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.Bermuda Islands Association of the Deaf works to help deaf and hard of hearing residents overcome social barriers with the ultimate goal of improving their lives. The group teaches deaf adult education and also serves as consultants to parents of children with hearing loss. BJSL was founded in 1936 and has a long history of supporting the local community.The group celebrates its 75th anniversary this year.Useful website: www.bjsl.bm.
