ONE IN A MILLION WAS COOLThe second in a series of shows spotlighting reigning giants and past legends in Bermuda’s entertainment world took place at the Four Ways Inn on Sunday.It was billed as ‘One in a Million’, and proved to be just that, ‘cool’ for the enthusiastic music lovers who braved the blustery weather applauding the renderings of The Max Maybury and Eugene (Stacker) Joell Duo and celebrity guest Gita Blakeney-Saltus and the Toni Bari Band.Any one of foregoing individually could have sustained the audience for the three-hour show, but they were forced to make room on the tightly-scripted programme for the likes of dancer Mitchelle (Livewires) Trott, and the very young Ming Mango salsa and bachata dancers Kaelin Cox and Makala Wilson. Applause-wise, they actually stole the show.‘Livewires’ Trott, at age five, began performing publicly as a gombey dancer, graduating to playing saxophone, singing and dancing in Shine Hayward’s Sophisticated Gents Band. He is now part-owner of Vibetribe Records Production.His dance, the opening act of the show, accompanied by Jules Roberts, one of the original of Ital Foundation, Bermuda’s number one Roots Reggae Band, proved to be the ideal pacesetter for the evening.Also there were a number of bright, up-and-coming stars given a chance by the promoters to shadow the legends, including pre-teens keyboarder Sean Adderley and Malik Alick. Another bonus for the patrons was the serving of an early light supper including a Caesar salad starter and dessert.Show sponsors were MP Dale Butler, head of the Atlantic Publishing House, and Darlene Hartley of Mytime Productions. She was the ever-effervescent mistress of ceremonies. The show was under the distinguished patronage of Mickey Robinson of Medical House Ltd.
