There can be no doubt that Bermuda has a special place in the hearts of Russel and Ellan Anspach of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. They are guests at the Pompano Beach resort in Southampton West on their 50th Bermuda visit since their first holiday 50 years ago. When planning a Bermuda trip the first thing they do is ensure their best Bermuda friend, Alsace Brown-Trott would be ‘on the rock’ then they do their bookings. Mrs Brown was one of the ‘old school’ hospitality workers when she first served Ellan and Russel. The couple said they had been attracted to Bermuda in 1972 by its romance, charm, friendliness and close proximity to their home state. They first stayed at Sonesta Beach Hotel, which was demolished nearly a decade ago and its idyllic site awaits re-development. The Anspachs, who are parents of seven children, were pictured above at Pompano before entertaining the Brown family to lunch. On Thursday evening the Browns planned to reciprocate with a dinner party at their home in Southampton West.
