Mission accomplished! Runner completes 2,021 miles in 2021
A marathon runner who pledged to run 2,021 miles in 2021 completed the final leg of her journey this morning.
Anna Laura Hocking, 43, was joined by friends and egged on by supportive motorists as she ran the last ten miles for the year.
Ms Hocking, who completed the final miles in about 90 minutes, said: “I’m so relieved to have finally finished my miles.
“I hope I’ve inspired somebody else to take on the challenge next year.”
The mother of two made the pledge at the start of 2021 after the marathons she planned to join from the previous year had been cancelled.
She thanked other marathon runners such as Rose-Anna Hoey, as well as Olympic triathlete Flora Duffy, for inspiring her to keep going.
Ms Hocking plans to participate in a marathon in Antarctica at the end of January to raise money for the children’s charity Raleigh Bermuda.
