Jimmy Keys

A charity will be getting a little help from an old friend next month, when entertainer Jimmy Keys returns to Bermuda as part of a fundraiser. The Bermuda Hockey Federation (BHF) will hold two Jimmy Keys shows at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess on May 6 and 7.Mr Keys was a popular performer in Bermuda during the 80s and 90s, often performing at Henry VIII and the Fairmont Southampton. He now tours the United States and Canada and does about 200 shows a year.“My show will feature a high energy act of music, comedy and visual impressions of numerous rock and pop stars from over the years, plus some local humour thrown in,” said Mr Keys. “Also I will feature some classic pieces from when I did shows in Bermuda.“I am very much looking forward to returning once again to the Island, and I will have some new routines for old fans that knew me a few years ago plus, we are hoping to attract some new people who have never seen my show before.”Juliette Oatley of the BHF said: “One of our members contacted the BHF’s fundraising committee several months back to suggest to us that we look to bring in Jimmy Keys for an event. It was not something that we had previously thought about, but thought it could be a great event as Jimmy still has a large following in Bermuda.“We contacted Jimmy right away and he expressed an interest. From there the planning began. We were successful with enticing Tony Brannon and Tony Cox to do an opening act for us. We feel this will start the evening off right.“We want to thank Jimmy for coming back to Bermuda, Tony and Tony for doing the opening act, the Fairmont Hamilton Princess for all their assistance with getting the details in place, and bdatix.bm for all there help.”The BHF is the national sporting body for field hockey in Bermuda. They have approximately 300 members that participate in their three major leagues the Men’s League, Women’s A Division and Women’s B Division. In addition to this they have a robust juniors’ league for both boys and girls. As the national sporting body they are responsible for all representation of Bermuda athletes in their sport. In recent years they have had teams represent Bermuda at the PanAm Youth Championships and CAC Games. This year they have been working on a team to represent Bermuda at the PanAm Challenge. They also have federation teams that have represented at the Island Games.Their season runs from October until May, and hockey lovers can see their games any Friday night, Saturday or Sunday at the National Sports Center. The two Jimmy Keys shows are on May 6 and 7 at 8pm at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess.
