Telephone art contest

Arty Bermuda residents have been offered the chance to see their work on the cover of one of the most used items on the Island — the telephone directory.

To enter the competition you must first be a member of the Bermuda Society of Arts, which is co-sponsoring the contest with Bermuda Yellow Pages.

Images of artwork must be presented to the gallery, located on the second floor of City Hall, on a disc no later than January 31. There is a maximum of three entries per person. Entries cannot be e-mailed.

The winner will be chosen by a panel of judges from both BSoA and Bermuda’s Yellow Pages. The winning image will be featured on the front cover of the 2013/14 Bermuda Yellow Pages Telephone Directory, with credit on the inside page.

Judges will be looking for entries that are reflective of Bermuda in some way its land, seascapes, people, cultures, seasons and so forth. Images that are colourful, vibrant and eye-catching, evoking of mood, would be preferred although they can also be abstract. A splash of yellow may help.

The image should not be taller than the book’s dimensions. It can be in landscape format but ideally not too panoramic. Artists can choose any medium, from traditional watercolour, oils, acrylics, collage, sculpture, mosaic or photography to iPad art or anything else of your own creation.

For more information call the BSoA on 292-3824.
